Who are we?
Lise DeShea, Ph.D.
The first name is pronounced like Lisa, and the last name is pronounced d'SHAY. Lise is a senior research biostatistician in the College of Nursing at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, where she advises researchers and teaches statistics to doctoral students.
Larry E. Toothaker, Ph.D.
Larry's last name is pronounced as if we were talking about a person with a toothache. Larry is an emeritus David Ross Boyd Professor, the highest honor for teaching excellence at the University of Oklahoma. He retired in 2008 after 40 years of teaching, doing research, and mentoring doctoral students, including Lise.
William Howard Beasley, Ph.D.
No tricky pronunciation in this name. Will is an assistant professor of research in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He has illustrated the book with figures that only hint at his strengths in data analysis . This book would not have been possible without his contributions.
